Poland sets solar and onshore wind auctions for 9-10 November, budget PLN 24.9 billion
Poland's Energy Regulatory Office, URE, has published the schedule for its 2026 renewable energy auctions, pv magazine reported on 4 November. The auctions for solar and onshore wind projects take place on 9 and 10 November, with a total budget of about PLN 24.9 billion, roughly 6.34 billion dollars, covering more than 76 TWh of renewable electricity.
Bids are split by size, with one category for projects of 1 MW or less and another for larger ones. Only new installations may take part, bids are evaluated solely on price, and developers need an auction admission certificate obtained through the regulator's Online Auction Platform.
Recent rounds have been dominated by solar. In 2025 the regulator awarded about 1.67 GW of solar and 82.7 MW of wind, with PV accounting for 178 of the 181 successful bids and solar prices ranging from PLN 216.90 to PLN 374.77 per MWh across the two categories. In 2024 solar won 198 of 200 bids, against two wind projects totalling 90.8 MW. Participation has nevertheless been subdued, as developers turn to corporate power purchase agreements and merchant sales.
The auctions belong to Poland's 2022 to 2027 support framework, which originally targeted about 9 GW of new solar and 3 GW of onshore wind. Poland installed 3.6 GW of solar in 2025, down from 4 GW in 2024, taking cumulative capacity to 24.8 GW by the ministry's count; the transmission operator PSE puts it at 25.5 GW, a gap the IEO's Grzegorz Wisniewski attributes to large farms connected in December.

What it means
The budget is sized for far more energy than recent rounds have actually cleared. Whether wind finally shows up in volume is the number to watch on 10 November.
