About Grid Brief
Grid Brief is an energy and networks desk. Regulator decisions, market notices, operator data and the occasional study — read in the original, checked, and written up short.
How news is handled here
Every item links its primary source, and says so. If a consultation, an order, a registration or a dataset says it, you get the address and can check it yourself in one click. Where a trade publication reported it first, we say that too, and we go and open the document it reported on.
Every item carries a line of judgement. What changed, and what it means for the people who operate the system or pay for it — or, often, why nothing follows from it at all. That line is the reason the item exists; without it this would be a list of links somebody else already published.
Where a story has one side, the piece says so. An operator announcement, a vendor press release and a study commissioned by an industry association are each worth covering and each carry an interest. We name it in the text rather than leaving the reader to guess.
Nothing here is generated from a feed. No rewriting of other people's reporting into different words, and the German edition is written, not machine-translated.
Bylines
Most items are desk copy and are published under the name of the publication. Pieces written by a named contributor carry that person's byline and link to their page. Every item links the primary source it was written from, in the article itself.
Editorial policy
No sponsored posts, no paid placements, nothing on this site is for sale. If that ever changes it will say so on this page, in this paragraph.
